Effects of GA3 and Benzylaminopurine on Leaf - yellowing of Cut Chrysanthemum during Storage

Abstract
The present experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of benzylaminopurine (BAP) and/or gibberellic acid (GA) spray treatments after harvesting on leaf-yellowing of Dendranthema grandiflora cvs. Seolpoong and Baekyang. The results are summarized as in the followings; In the color analysis at 14 days after treatments, extents of yellowness (b) and lightness (L) for the control and GA treatments were generally greater than those of either BAP or BAP+GA treatments which have retained throughout the storage. In the analysis of total chlorophyll content either at 14 days after treatments at 20¡É or 7 days at 30¡É, those of control were lower than GA, BAP and BAP+GA treatments. But the effect of GA on retention of the content was negligible. Total chlorophyll content in detached leaves at 14 days after BAP treatments at 20¡É was generally increased as the concentration increased, and the content for treatments of 2, 5, 10 §·/§¤ resulted in less chlorophyll content than those of 25, 50, 100 §·/§¤. The control had the least, and BAP treatments resulted in the most number of lateral shoots with the longest length of lateral shoot sproutings.
